Evaluation of the flow around the hull and appendages gives the best overview of the vessel hydrodynamic quality. As the disorder in the flow such as excessive waves or flow disturbance indicates the energy loss the investigation of the flow pattern gives prime information about hull performance. Direct investigation of the results allows for detection of the areas of hull form improvement.
